Celeste's Story
"Project Angel Food makes me feel seen—like a person, not a number. I'm just grateful for you helping me get meals that help me as I battle my diseases, and someone I can talk to about what I should eat. Its all done with so much care." — Celeste, Project Angel Food client
Living with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis, Celeste depends on Project Angel Food as her primary source of food and a lifeline. She receives two medically tailored meals a day, plus fresh fruit and breakfast bags filled with cereal, yogurt, string cheese, hard-boiled eggs and more; she says the variety keeps her going—though the chicken with mushroom gravy and noodles is her favorite. Pain and crushing fatigue make shopping and cooking dangerous; before Project Angel Food, skipped meals led to blood sugar spikes and painful flare-ups. "I'm in pain all day," she says, "but I still have to be a mom." Today, when she opens her freezer and finds the meals waiting, they feel like more than food: "These meals taste fresh-like someone who loves me made them. I'm grateful—truly grateful."
